Conversation with my husband...

So this is how things went last night when I talked to Brandon about playing tennis (disclaimer: I put things in quotes, but I have taken some creative liberties!):

S: "Hey...Julie is trying to recruit some of the younger girls in the neighborhood to play tennis"
B: "Oh no."
S: "And she said that she doesn't care how bad I am and that at least I can 'run' when the older ladies can't"
B: "I told you this would happen"
S: "But really, she said it doesn't matter how bad I am"
B: "Maybe I should get you some private lessons"
S: "Julie said she would help me"
B: "Sarah, you and your neighborhood girls have a really good thing going...do you really want to ruin a friendship over tennis?"
S: "And it's BYOB..how fun is that?!"
B: {sarcastic tone...more sarcastic than normal}"Oh, that will really help things for you..."
S: "Do you really have such little faith in my ability to play tennis...seriously, I'm pretty athletic?"
B: "Honey, I've seen you play....."

hahahahaha

Water Baby

Today was our first time in the pool this year and Kyle's first ever. Matthew still doesn't like the pool all that much, but Kyle....oh Kyle...he is our water baby. The more the kids splashed him, the louder he squealed. He kicked and slapped the water...and just loved the whole afternoon. On the other hand, Matthew stayed on the side of the pool :)

The Big 0-3.

My baby is 3. Not sure how the time went so fast. I still remember April 19, 2006. I had no idea what would happen or how much I would love him (or her...cause I didn't know he was a he then!).

And now, he's not a baby anymore. This is what he has been up to these days

  • Completely potty trained.
  • Loves to sing (or have us sing) Old McDonald
  • Loves to sing "Jesus Loves the Little Children" but calls it "Jesus Loves Me This I Know White"--I have no idea why.
  • Asked me to sing "Silent Night" to him last night. He asks for it alot. I had no idea that I would still be singing Christmas songs in April, but if he wants "Silent Night" he can have "Silent Night" all year long.
  • He wears 3T clothes and he has gotten to be pretty tall and skinny.
  • He thinks it is totally unfair that Kyle is allowed to spit but he isn't.
  • If I take him to a public restroom to go to the bathroom, he says "good job mommy" after I go....and I hear other people laugh.
  • He got a bike for his birthday and he was so excited. But I think Brandon was even more excited to give it to him.

Matthew and Kendall on his 3rd birthday. We are already planning the wedding:

The Zoo

Suzanne, Kate, Katie and I braved the school-bus-infested zoo. I started to say "why do all the public schools think they really need to bring thier kids to the public zoo..." and then realized what I was saying. He are pics that Suzanne took. She always takes the best pictures.

Best pic of Kyle ever.

The first good pic of me and my boys:

Kendall, Braden, Matthew and Truit. All three boys have pretty much the same thick, blond hair and big, bright blue eyes. A stranger would think they were all related..

Teething may be hazardous to your house:

Kyle has left teeth marks on the TV remote, my arm, Jack's ears, my shoulder, the highchair, my finger, the bottom of the exersaucer and one of our neighbors. And now, he has moved to cabinet hardware. Poor guy.

What? Am I doing something wrong?

Easter

We did an Easter egg hunt last year, but I don't think he really understood what was really going on. But this year...oh, the fun of the Easter Egg Hunt!!! But I am going to have to get a much better camera if I expect to ever get a good picture with these boys moving so fast.

Inspecting the 'goods':

This is how he smiles if you ask him to 'smile'. It has been quite problematic for things such as Christmas, Easter, and group Mother's Day Out pictures:

And remember this game? I used to play it at my Grandma's ALL THE TIME. And the Easter Bunny brought it for Matthew:

And here is the only pic I have of Kyle. He had to sit on the sidelines for the Easter egg hunt, but I'm sure he'll be right in the middle of things next year!

A Budding Friendship?

You might remember my post about how Matthew and Jack don't really get along all that great. Well, check this out! Could it be the start of something more?! The pictures aren't that great because they are taken from inside the house. I didn't want to ruin their "moment".

Kyle is a secret crawler.

I put Kyle down in one spot....leave the room....and he's in a totally different spot. The trouble is...he can't crawl. Or at least I don't think he can. Maybe he just likes playing with my head. But, he is getting close to crawling. He has his tummy off the ground and he rocks back and forth. Yet I don't expect him to crawl for a little while...Brandon and I make some ginormous, lazy babies. Matthew didn't crawl until 9 months or walks until almost 15 months!

And while big brother is away (at Mother's Day Out), the baby will play!!! He had his way with the Legos and Matchbox cars without hearing "No Kyle...MINE!!".

We went to the Mercer Arboretum a couple of weeks ago to buy herbs and peppers from thier annual fundraiser. Matthew pulled the wagon with the plants, he saw lots of fish in the ponds and he probably ran several miles before we left! We took some pictures, but we never get good ones as a family. Mainly because Brandon and Matthew roll thier eyes every time I pull out the camera. I'm sure Kyle will join them one day.
